By Mach Super on YouTube

Spectar is built entirely in-house by me, Christian Lewis from the Mach Super YouTube channel. It all started when I wanted to put my new web development skills to use by making a really nice e-commerce fastener store. While doing that, I way over-built a visualiser to show exactly what each product would look like. Then a comment from someone online made me realise I could use that as a standalone app for identifying screws. So with over a year of coding in my spare time (and sometimes not-so-spare time) we have Spectar! I hope you love it.

Keeping it Real with You

When you're in the shop or on-site, you need shit to work right. So I've designed Spectar like an industrial tool.

It is laser focused on function and serving you the best that it can - it may never match physical instruments, but no physical instruments are as flexible and convenient. Many hours have been spent carefully considering the best way to do things.

Features Coming Soon

Spectar is still in beta testing, expect new features to roll out rapidly over the coming months.

  • Where to Buy

In the future, you will be able to use Spectar to identify your fastener, and with one-click, view a directory of local and online suppliers to buy hardware matching that exact spec.

  • More Fastener Categories

More fastener categories are always being worked on.

  • More Tools

Spectar won’t just be limited to screws, soon it will offer tools for identifying other hardware such as o-rings, bearings, gears and more.

  • Engineering Reference Materials

Spectar aims to be a generally handy tool for engineers and makers to identify hardware and access technical references with written materials and innovative interactive calculators.
